How does Kinder Institute operate?

Each family is assigned a Personal Care Coordinator. This person first meets with the family to discuss the full history of the issue and its impact on each person involved. Then he or she assembles a Core Team, which may include: a mental health therapist; a pediatrician; an occupational therapist; a speech therapist; and an educational specialist. Depending on each family’s specific needs, other therapies or treatments, such as parenting skills, relaxation therapies, or tutoring, may be added to the treatment plan. When and if so, those care providers are added to the team.

The entire team, including the Personal Care Coordinator, meets regularly to discuss progress and access whether any changes to the treatment need to be made. To help keep the treatment plan unified, effective, and accessible to the family, all team members and therapeutic services are offered in location, under one roof. As an important part of the Core Team, the Personal Care Coordinator will manage the family’s treatment plan and serve as a liaison for the family and team. He or she will make sure that the family’s needs are being met and that each member of the team is informed and involved.
